Situation: To start the project we started generating ideas and sourcing assets for the game. This includes game mechanics, narrative, genre and goal.

Task:

  • Produce ideas for enemies
  • Gather map, character and object assets for team to easily access

Action: To aid in producing ideas for enemies, I played and watched videos on similar games to ours. During class we decided on a rouge-lite dungeons crawler. I looked at games like Hades, Kill the Crows and Enter the Gungeon.

Over my years of doing game development, I have brought a bunch of assets from the synty store. Using these asset packs gives us good and consistent looking assets for out game.

Result: Based off of the games, and my own concepts, I decided the most common enemy will be a goblin variation. The goblins have a Male and female variation with both long and tanged attacks (Male enemies having a longer weapon and being about to attack from further away).
